Did you know that Porkka Finland is the largest Finnish supplier for the United Nations procurement market?
Between 2015 and 2023, Porkka Finland delivered vaccine storage facilities – modular cold and freezer rooms – worth over $13 million (approx. €11.1 million) to UN organizations. These are not one-off projects, but part of a long-term collaboration with some of the world’s most impactful humanitarian organizations.
– We’ve worked closely with our clients to design cold and freezer rooms suited for the most challenging environments. Our solutions meet the strictest WHO standards, and our decades of experience help us build fully functioning systems anywhere in the world, says Head of Sales, Export Petri Hiilloste.

Decades of experience with continuous development
Porkka has been involved in UN projects since the 1980s, going back to the Huurre era. Today, we are one of only five approved suppliers whose solutions UN agencies can directly procure for vaccine storage.
– Our ability to adapt has been key to our success, Hiilloste continues.
– We’re now developing our own solar power system, customizing deliveries based on destination, and building a strong network of Local Service Partners (LSPs) to enable installations by local teams.
Purpose-driven work with trusted partners
Working with UN agencies demands reliability, quality, and delivery accuracy – quick wins don’t exist in this field. But when partnerships begin, they’re built on trust.
– We are doing work that truly matters. For example, vaccination programs have significantly reduced child mortality in developing countries. It’s an honor to contribute to that impact, Hiilloste concludes.
