The coating is a durable solution for protecting surfaces, given that it can last for years, depending on wear. The Fotonit coating is a solution for protecting surfaces which is entirely safe for people, animals and the environment.

True to its name, the Fotonit photocatalytic coating activates under the influence of light, making surfaces safe to touch by destroying any viruses or other pathogens on them. The result is a chemical reaction which rapidly destroys the structures of microbes and volatile organic compounds (or VOCs). The Fotonit coating’s activation in the dark has been enhanced by adding silver, also known as an antimicrobial agent, to the coating.

The coating has a significant effect on the hygiene and cleaning of facilities and surfaces, because self-disinfecting surfaces stay hygienic without strong chemicals – the coating keeps reactivating again and again with the help of light, providing lasting protection.

An effective way to stop various microbes

Fotonit photocatalytic coating works on enveloped viruses – which include Influenza A, SARS-CoV-2 and MRSA – and on foodborne pathogens, such as Listeria, Salmonella and E. coli. Both influenza and the coronavirus are enveloped viruses. In line with the similar chemical structures of these viruses, the effect on the coronavirus should be equivalent as on Influenza A.

Our experts install Fotonit coatings at our production units or on site, at the customer’s premises. The installation takes place quickly and flexibly, and the coating will not alter the appearance, shine or feel of the surfaces.
